The guys say they havent been on a competition show before, but Id argue that that series was as cutthroat as it gets, even though it was probably fixed from the beginning. It felt like a knockoff and less impactful version of the Mayfly Wolf stage. SF9 took a commanding lead last week, revealing a stage and concept that felt new for them. iKON took the top spot for me. The show pits six K-pop boy groups against one another for the opportunity to be crowned K-pop's King. I always enjoyed they never lipsyncd his parts but rather Hongjoon interpreted those moments his own way. I mean, dont get me wrong. I dont know how they feel on our stage. I was really looking forward to The Boyzs stage as their track was my favorite. Although somehow I still dont know how to pronounce Peniel correctly. If there was an audience, they could have hyped up the crowd and really did their things, but they chose to just dance which happens to be their weakest area. So, the editing of each performances may inadvertently factor into my rankings. Take the craft seriously, and please please take the songs seriously, but not everything has to have fifteen layers of meaning and be performed like a battle cry. Poor (or lucky?) Hopefully, things get better from now on, and they find an excuse to allow Changmin to do a solo vocal stage. I feel like the point of the show is to try new stages/styles. Ateez comes last unfortunately because their choice of remixing heavy sounds did not showcase what their song Wave actually portrays.
